DEVONagent Express is pretty much self-explanatory and can be in the same way as the Spotlight menu:
- Click the DEVONagent Express icon
 in the right area of the menu bar to show the DEVONagent Express menu with the search field.
- Choose where you want to search from the magnifying glass
 pop-up menu in the search field. The chosen plugin or search set is shown in front of the search field.
- Enter your query.
- Press ↩ or Enter.
DEVONagent Express now sends your query to the selected search engine(s), collects the results, and shows them ranked in the menu.
- A colored bar in the search field shows how far the search has already progressed.
- Point with the mouse on any result to show a tooltip with a preview and a text summary.
- Click the result to open it in your browser.
- Hold the ⌥ or ⌘ modifier key to open results in your browser in the background.
- Drag results to e.g. the Desktop or other applications. Dragging to the Desktop creates bookmarks (.webloc), dragging to other applications inserts the web address.
- Navigate through the list with the Up and Down keys, press ↩ or Enter to open the result in your browser.
- Recall recent searches from the magnifying glass pop-up menu.
- Click the
 to clear your search.

Note: Plugins return up to 20 results, match title, URL, and text, don't filter similar pages, and accept all document types. Simple plugins also don't follow links, search language-independent, and don't use fuzzy search. Umlauts are ignored, archived pages are not filtered (as there is no archive in DEVONagent Express, and scanners are only used by the built-in search sets. If you want to tweak your search consider buying DEVONagent.
